MP Raju Bista raises demand for Gorkhaland in Parliament

New Delhi, 28th July: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista raised the demand for a separate state of Gorkhaland today at the Parliament. Addressing the house, the MP said, “Gorkhaland is not just a demand for development, but it is associated with the recognition and identity of 1.5 crore Gorkhas.”

He called for the immediate implementation of a Permanent Political Solution in Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars. He highlighted the lack of democracy in the region and the discrimination faced by the people, despite Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars being one of the largest revenue-generating regions in West Bengal. Furthermore, the MP said that it is because of this discrimination the demand for Gorkhaland state rises time and again.
