Siliguri, 02nd April: Happiness were witnessed among the faces of football lovers after the road named after the football club ‘Mohun Bagan’ has been inaugurated in Siliguri. This is the first road outside the capital of West Bengal to be named after the club.
The road to Siliguri’s Mahananda Lal Mohan Moulik Niranjan Ghat has been renamed Mohan Bagan Avenue. The nameplate of the road has been prepared. The plaque was unveiled today by Mayor Goutam Deb. Today the entire city including the road to Niranjan Ghat was decorated with green maroon flags and banners by the Mohun Bagan fan club Siliguri Mariners. A program was also organized by the Siliguri Municipal Corporation.
During this, Mohun Bagan Club Secretary Debashish Dutta, Mohun Bagan Club player Liston Colaco, Siliguri Municipal Corporation Mayor Goutam Deb, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Siliguri Police Commissioner Akhilesh Chaturvedi, District Magistrate S. Ponnambalam and other administration officials and football lovers were present.
The promotional program was followed by the unveiling of a plaque named Mohun Bagan Avenue and the inauguration of the new road by releasing balloons. After this, the road was circumambulated from Lal Mohan Moulik Niranjan Ghat to Suryasen Park.
