Siliguri, 20th July: The police officials of the Panitanki Outpost under the Siliguri Metropolitan Police exposed a forgery in Hakim Para. The incident involved the arrest of a businessman identified as Pranay Sarkar, a local resident of Swamiji Sarani in Hakim Para.
According to reports, the accused owned a store in Hakim Para, by the name of Om Sai Infotech where he would sell counterfeit goods of the worldwide famous company of Hewlett-Packard (HP). As a result, the reputation of the company was tainted. As soon as the news got out, a management team of HP arrived at Siliguri and began investigating the whole matter. Subsequently, a written complaint was filed at the Panitanki Outpost following the confirmation that the entirety of the report was accurate.
Subsequently, the police conducted a raid at the aforementioned store in Hakim Para based on the complaint and eventually arrested the accused under the Cheating and Copyright Act. Additionally, eight HP counterfeit cartridges were discovered and retrieved by the police. The accused owner was produced before the Siliguri Court today.
