Siliguri, 24th July: The excise department arrested three men with a large quantity of illicit liquor. The arrested accused have been identified as Umesh Kumar (45), Mahilal Singh (60), and Ambir Singh (45). All three are residents of Uttar Pradesh.
It has been learned that on Saturday morning, a raid was conducted near Fulbari-Ghoshpukur bypass under the leadership of OC of Bagdogra Circle Excise Department Shubhas Haldar. A truck with the UP number plate was seized by the officials. The truck was searched and a large quantity of illegal liquor was recovered. The liquor was brought from Arunachal Pradesh and was intended for smuggling to Bihar. The market value of the recovered liquor is several lakh rupees.
