Gajoldoba, 28th October: Preparations have begun for the 28th Rash Mela and Uttar Banga Lok Sanskriti O Baul Utsav at Takimari in Gajoldoba, Rajganj block, with a traditional ‘Khutti Puja’ ceremony held on Wednesday.
The festival is being organised by Naba Milan Yuva Sangha and Takimari Bazar Committee at Takimari under Mantadari Gram Panchayat in Rajganj block.
According to the organisers, the Rash Utsav will be held on 25th November, followed by the mela and Baul Utsav from 26th November to 01st December. Baul artists from various districts of West Bengal are expected to participate in the seven-day festival.
Promoting Lok Sanskriti and showcasing Bengal’s traditional Baul Sangeet will be among the major attractions of the event.
Those present at Wednesday’s ‘Khutti Puja’ included Rajganj Panchayat Saha Sabhapati Nitai Mondal, Mantadari Gram Panchayat Pradhan Chaitanya Barui, Mela Committee Secretary Madan Barman, Sujit Dey and other prominent personalities.
