Siliguri, 06th January: An atmosphere of tension engulfed the NJP area after a clash broke out between the two groups in front of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), on Tuesday.
Condemning the incident, INTTUC staged a protest rally on Wednesday. The rally commenced in front of NJP’s Netaji statue and concluded near IOC. Several labourers were present at the rally.
It is to be noted that the conflict between the two factions started over the submission of tenders for the tankers that go to various petrol pumps from the IOC. As per allegations, INTTUC leader Prasenjit Roy and his associates were attacked by another group yesterday. They were also pelted with stones. This was soon followed by a clash between the two sides. The NJP police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
Today, INTTUC leader Prasenjit Roy said that the rally was organized opposing the incident. Allegedly, the organization has already identified around three people who carried out the attack last night and lodged a written complaint at the police station. The INTTUC has warned of staging various movements in the coming days if no solution is provided soon.
