INTTUC office in NJP vandalized by temporary railway workers

Siliguri, 16th October: Massive tension was witnessed at the NJP station premises after a temporary railway worker faced harassment by the TMC workers.


Reportedly, work commenced at the station after a new tender was issued. In the course, a temporary railway worker was attacked by some local TMC workers today. While the injured person was rushed to the hospital, the incident created a stir in the entire area.

Following this, the agitated railway workers vandalized the INTTUC office. The NJP police reached the spot and resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the angry mob. Two people have been detained in connection to the incident.


On behalf of the temporary workers, Dharmaraj Roy said that the old employees were asked to submit documents concerning work. However, the instructions were not followed accordingly. Following this, the TMC workers attacked them today.

Meanwhile, INTTUC leader Prasenjit Roy was reluctant to comment on behalf of the TMC. RAF was deployed at the station premises after the incident.

On behalf of the Trinamool and Vyavasayee Samiti, Bapi Nag said that they visited the station today to hand over a memorandum. He alleged that their office was vandalized by the BJP activists. However, he claimed that no attack was done on behalf of the TMC.
