Siliguri, 21st February: The State Government’s Cultural Affairs Department and the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) collaborated to pay floral tributes to the ‘Shaheed Bedi’ situated in Baghajatin Park of Siliguri on the occasion of the International Mother Language Day.
According to reports, the celebration of the day commenced with Bengali songs earlier on Wednesday. Following this, a floral tribute was paid to the ‘Shaheed Bedi’ by lighting of the lamp. Furthermore, five saplings have been planted in Baghajatin Park in honour of the five martyrs.
In addition, the program featured SMC Mayor Gautam Deb, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, and other officials from the Information and Culture Department of Siliguri.
