Rajganj, 01st June: A huge tree collapsed onto the building of Haricharanbhita Special Cadre Primary School in Rajganj during strong winds on Monday evening, damaging classrooms and parts of the structure. However, no casualties were reported as nobody was present inside the school at the time of the incident.
According to sources, classes had resumed from Monday after the long summer vacation. In the evening, light rain accompanied by strong winds swept through the area when a large tree standing inside the school premises suddenly collapsed onto the school building.
The impact damaged the roof and other portions of the classrooms. Fortunately, no students, teachers or staff members were inside the school premises during the incident, helping avert a major accident.
Local residents later noticed the incident and informed the school authorities. Preliminary assumptions suggest that the tree had already weakened and eventually collapsed due to the gusty winds.
Residents and guardians have demanded immediate removal of the fallen tree and urgent repair of the damaged school building.
