Siliguri, 23rd July: On 21st July 2024, the Global Shotokan North Bengal Open Karate Championship took place for the first time in North Bengal at the Little Learner’s Activity Centre in Jyoti Nagar, Siliguri. The event was organized in association with the Jatiya Sakti Sangha Club, Champasari.
The championship was overseen by Chief Instructor Mr. Santosh Mallik, 3rd Dan and Black Belt, and General Secretary of the Darjeeling District (GSKAD). Participants showcased their skills in karate through ‘Kata’ and ‘Kumite’ categories. A total of 140 participants from Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, and Darjeeling, took part, with winners receiving medals and certificates.
The event featured several distinguished guests, including Chief Technical Director ‘Shihan’ Tarak Nath Sardar (GSKAI), Rahul Dhar (President GSKAI), Roshna Dixit Chhetri (Human Rights Association of India), Ranjita Modak (Human Rights Association of India), Apsara Shangrola (Principal of Surya Public School), Mampi Saha Dhar (Director of My Dream School), Jhumpa Moulick (Principal of My Dream School), and Dilip Barman (SMC’s MMIC and Secretary of Jatiya Sakti Sangha Club).
