GJM delegation on Assam visit regarding NRC

Siliguri, 11th March: A representative team of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (Binay faction) once again headed towards Assam regarding issues relating to the National Register of Citizens (NRC). The team comprises of Union Deputy Secretary Keshav Raj Pokhrel, Central Committee member Sakal Dewan and Morcha Research and Study Wing member Pankaj Chhetri. The team is said to be constantly meeting various organizations and individuals to understand the ground report of Assam.


As per the press release, the GJM delegations met former Assam Chief Minister and senior leader Tarun Gogoi at his residence and held a formal meeting. During the meeting, Gogoi maintained that during his fifteen years of governance, he kept the Gorkhas honorably and for the first time in the history of Assam, senior advocate and professor Tanka Bahadur Rai belonging to the Gorkha community was appointed as the Speaker of State Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha). He further added that the Gorkha members were given equal opportunity in their duties as cabinet ministers during his govern. Gogoi also elaborated on the recent Bodoland agreement with the central government, as per the release.
