Siliguri, 2nd January: An alarming incident surfaced where a girl seeking a lift from an unknown individual was robbed of a significant amount of cash in Siliguri. Following the incident, two individuals, identified as Nivesh Roy and Piyush Roy, were arrested.
According to reports, on December 8, a girl was allegedly awaiting a vehicle near a shopping mall on Siliguri’s Sevoke Road, to go home. However, she could not find one, being late at night.
During this, the girl sought lift from a four-wheeler driven by an unknown individual on the said road. Following this, the vehicle stopped and let her in, however, the girl was completely unaware of the driver’s intentions.
After providing a lift, the unknown individual took the girl to a deserted location in the Eastern Bypass area and allegedly threatened her and robbed her worth lakhs. Subsequently, the driver abandoned the girl near Sevoke Road’s ITI More.
Later, the victim girl lodged a written complaint at Bhakti Nagar police station on Monday. Based on the complaint, the police initiated an investigation and arrested two individuals from Raj Fafri on charges of robbing lakhs of rupees from the girl. On Tuesday, both the accused have been presented before the Jalpaiguri court, while the police are engaged in further investigation.
