First ever electric passenger loco of N.F. Railway flagged off in Siliguri Junction

Siliguri, 02nd February: In a recent development, the Northeast Frontier (N.F.) Railways have achieved a significant milestone after the first electric passenger loco was flagged off at Siliguri Junction on Friday.


According to reports, the electric passenger loco was inaugurated by the DRM Surendra Kumar of N.F. Railway Katihar Division. It is known that the electric passenger loco has been manufactured in Varanasi at an estimated budget of around Rs 11.50 crore.

Up until now, 13 electric locos were being operated in Siliguri. However, the engines were used specifically on cargo trains. Even so, the first passenger train pulled by an electric locomotive has been launched in Siliguri Junction.
