Jalpaiguri, 05th October: The Fire Department conducted inspections at several private hospitals in Jalpaiguri ahead of Durga Puja to review their preparedness for handling fire-related emergencies.
Fire officials inspected whether the hospitals had adequate fire-fighting equipment and proper arrangements for the movement of patients and the public during emergencies.
The officials also checked the hospitals’ fire-fighting equipment, corridors and entry and exit arrangements, as well as whether there could be any obstacles to carrying out rescue operations quickly in the event of a fire.
The Fire Department said that ahead of Puja, fire safety arrangements are being inspected not only at hospitals but also at various government and private establishments, hotels, restaurants and shopping malls.
Officials said necessary action will be taken if any shortcomings in compliance with rules or fire safety arrangements are found.
