Elephant calf injured after being hit by a train in Midnapore

West Midnapore, 08th January: Time and again, we hear stories of elephants being hit by trains while crossing railways tracks. In yet another tragic incident, an elephant calf sustained critical injuries after it was hit by a train while crossing the railway track near Garbeta railway station in West Midnapore district.


Train movement was discontinued to rescue the injured calf. Upon receiving the news of the incident, the forest officials later reached the spot to rescue the elephant calf.
