DYFI undertakes Siliguri Police Commissionerate Abhiyan with multiple demands

Siliguri, 16th December: The DYFI Darjeeling District Committee undertook a Siliguri Police Commissionerate abhiyan, raising muntiple demands.


On Monday, DYFI State Secretary Minakshi Mukherjee led a procession from Mahananda Bridge in Siliguri to the Commissionerate. Reportedly, a large police force was deployed at the gate of the Commissionerate to prevent the procession from advancing. The march was stopped upon arrival, and the organization’s workers and supporters continued their protest at the location.

The protestors raised several issues, including women’s safety, the demand for justice for R.G. Kar, police brutality across the state, and the rising number of criminal incidents in Siliguri, accusing the police of failing to prevent crime. Following the protest, the members of DYFI submitted a memorandum with various demands.
