Drones to monitor city’s activities during Durga Puja, Siliguri police launches app to help civilians

Siliguri, 08th October: The Siliguri Metropolitan Police is gearing up to ensure a safe and secure Durga Puja celebration this year. Reportedly, the police have introduced several measures, including the deployment of drones and the launch of a new mobile app.


According to reports, the police will be deploying the ‘Yoddha drone’ equipped with high-resolution cameras during the peak hours of Durga Puja. The drones will patrol the skies, especially over crowded areas, to monitor the city’s activities. The drones will be controlled by the police headquarters. In case of any emergency, the drones can capture images and transmit them immediately to the control room. In addition to aerial surveillance, 2,000 police officials will be deployed on the ground in efforts to strengthen security arrangements for Durga Puja.

The Siliguri Metropolitan Police has also launched a new mobile app called ‘Guide Map Siliguri Police.’ This app is designed to assist people during the festival by providing them with information such as the location of police stations, hospitals, and emergency services. The app will also allow users to report any suspicious activity or seek help in case of emergencies.


Addressing the media, DCP Tanmay Sarkar stated that several special teams have been formed to handle the crowd and maintain law and order during the festival. Siliguri Police Commissioner C. Sudhakar assured the public that the police are prepared to ensure a peaceful Durga Puja celebration. He also extended his best wishes to the citizens of Siliguri on the auspicious occasion.
