Drinking water service to be suspended in Siliguri for two days, SMC makes alternative arrangements

Siliguri, 20th November: The drinking water service in Siliguri will remain suspended for two days, causing a temporary shortage in the city. In response, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has initiated measures to address the issue by arranging water tanks and pouches for distribution across various wards.

The suspension of water supply on Friday and Saturday is due to the inauguration of the second intake well, which was completed a few days ago. The process to operationalize the intake well necessitates the two-day shutdown.

To mitigate the shortage, SMC has arranged for 26 water tanks to supply water to all city wards. Additionally, approximately 3 lakh water pouches have been prepared for distribution.

Mayor Gautam Deb stated that the Public Health Engineering Department will assist in ensuring water reaches all affected areas.
