Malda, 25th February: Accusations have been raised against the husband and mother-in-law for choking a woman to death in the Gagnikadi village of Silampur Gram Panchayat under Kaliachak Police station. The deceased has been identified as Jaharana Bibi. Currently, the mother-in-law has been detained by the Kaliachak Police. However, the accused husband, Aejad Sheikh is absconding since the incident.
It has been reported that Jaharana was married to Aejad Sheikh, a resident of a nearby village, 8 months ago. It has been alleged that Jaharana’s in-laws were pressurizing her to get 2 lakh rupees from her house, for the past few days. Jaharana’s husband and mother-in-law have been accused of choking her to death and then hanging her body to a noose. The police recovered the body, sent it for an autopsy and are currently investigating the incident.
