Darjeeling Hill Marathon 2021 to kickstart on December 03

Darjeeling, 16th November: Darjeeling Police’s 8th edition of Darjeeling Hill Marathon, one of the largest marathon races in eastern and northeastern India, will be held on December 03. The theme of the Marathon this year would be “Run for Unity” which encompasses the idea of universal brotherhood.


Marking the International Day for Disability – December 03, a war veteran, 1st amputee Marathoner, 1st Asian solo skydiver, a blade runner and a change maker, Major Devender Pal Singh, will grace the event. Along with him, Bharat Chettri – former Indian field hockey player and goalkeeper and Captain of Indian Hockey Team and the iconic Bhaichung Bhutia – former captain of Indian Football team and torchbearer of Indian football in the international arena will also be present.

Darjeeling SP Dr Santosh Nimbalkar unveiled the Darjeeling Hill Marathon T-shirt, route map and medal on Monday. Reportedly, this year, famous singer Jubin Nautiyal will be headlining the marathon.


The categories are as follows.

  • 21.1km Male/Female
  • 10Km Male/Female
  • 10km Police Male/Female

The winners of the 21.1km categories will be awarded the cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, Rs 50,000, and Rs 25,000 respectively. While the winners of the 10km categories will be awarded the cash prize of Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000, and Rs 10,000 respectively.
