Siliguri, 14th March: Matigara police station has arrested an individual on charges of fraud related to cryptocurrency investments. The accused has been identified as Swadesh Barman.
Reportedly, Swadesh Barman lured people by promising to double their money through cryptocurrency investments. According to police sources, a complaint was filed by a person named Pradip Singha at Matigara police station, accusing the suspect of fraud. The case pertains to the Pelku Jote area under North Bengal Medical College Outpost.
Following the complaint, the police arrested Swadesh Barman on Thursday night. During the investigation, authorities recovered seven bank accounts and several documents linked to the accused, making the case more significant.
Police suspect that Swadesh Barman may be a Bangladeshi citizen and are currently verifying his documents.
The accused was presented before Siliguri court on Thursday, where the police sought a 10-day remand for further investigation. Matigara police station is actively probing the matter.
