CPIM leader Ashok Bhattacharya to serve as the party’s non-playing captain

Siliguri, 06th May: CPIM leader Ashok Bhattacharya who acquired the third position from Siliguri assembly in the 2021 Bengal assembly elections, claimed to no longer contest any election in the future.


After his defeat in the assembly elections, he has been disappointed. He even walked out of the counting centre before the results were announced. But Bhattacharya had informed regarding his decision to not contest in the future elections before the assembly elections took place.

At Anil Biswas Bhaban on Thursday, Bhattacharya said that he will continue to serve as the party’s ‘non-playing captain’. As of now, his job is to motivate the workers and boost their morale, he added.


Meanwhile, the reasons for his defeat are being reviewed. He is also visiting different booths. He maintained that he will not contest any election from now on and a new face will be seen in the municipal corporation polls.
