CPI(M) and Congress accuse SMC’s draft list of being unconstitutional

Siliguri, 20th January: Siliguri Mayor Ashok Bhattacharya and Matigara Naxalbari Congress MLA Shankar Malakar condemned the draft list of seats reserved for the Siliguri Municipal Corporation constituency, calling it completely unconstitutional. The duo alleged that the draft has been prepared without following any rules, solely to provides benefits to the ruling Trinamool Congress party. Therefore, a complaint will be filed against the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Darjeeling district on January 27.
Looking at the scenario, it is even possible that the CPI(M) and the Congress party might contest in the upcoming Siliguri pre-polls as allies.
Earlier, the two leaders had a meeting together regarding the issue. This was followed by another meeting on Monday in the PWD bungalow. Ashok Bhattacharya, Shankar Malakar, Jibesh Sarkar and other members held a lengthy discussion regarding the draft of the candidates.
