Raiganj, 22nd July: BJP State Vice-President Raju Banerjee, who had come to join the ‘Dharna Mancha’ demanding a CBI probe into the Chopra rape-murder case, was arrested by the police.
Its is to be noted, the BJP District Committee commenced a sit-in protest in front of BJP’s North Dinajpur District Office on MG Road, Raiganj, demanding a CBI inquiry into the case in Chopra.
Although protests were held peacefully on the first day, the police on the second day directed the closure of the agenda. Allegedly when Raju Banerjee was about to address the people through the ‘Dharna Manch’, the police intervened and arrested him.
