Jalpaiguri, 31st August: A minor boy lost his life after drowning in a pond during the Janmashtami ‘Kada Khela’ celebrations. The tragic incident surfaced on Tuesday at Sahebbari village in Rajar Haat area of Mainaguri block under Jalpaiguri district. The deceased has been identified as Bittu Roy.
According to family sources, a Dadhi-Kado game was organized in the village on the occasion of Janmashtami. Bittu drowned while playing the game. While he was immediately rescued and rushed to the Jalpaiguri Super Speciality Hospital, he was declared dead.
Meanwhile, the police reached the hospital after receiving the news. The body will be handed over to the family after autopsy.
