Kalchini, 20th August: The body of an elephant cub was recovered from a drain in Bharnobari tea garden of Kalchini block. The dead calf was initially spotted by the workers in Section No. 11 of the tea garden.
On receiving the news, the forest personnel of Hamiltonganj Range reached the spot and recovered the body of the calf. The personnel presumed that the calf must have fallen into the drain while crossing the creek of the tea garden. The calf’s carcass has been sent for post-mortem to find out the exact cause of death.
