Siliguri, 06th October: Internal differences within the BJP have once again surfaced in the Dabgram II area, with a section of party workers and local residents raising allegations of corruption and factionalism.
A few days ago, former Panchayat Pradhan Mitali Malakar had resigned from her post, alleging that a section of BJP panchayat members had conspired with some Trinamool Congress panchayat members to remove her. She had said the matter was embarrassing and that she decided to step down herself.
Now, a section of BJP workers and local residents has raised fresh allegations over the situation in the Dabgram II area. They claimed that corruption allegations against some individuals had been brought to the attention of different levels of the party, but no action had been taken. They also alleged that people against whom there were no corruption allegations were being targeted and attempts were being made to remove them from the party.
The group alleged that Meena Biswas, a panchayat member from Party Area No. 55, was facing multiple corruption allegations. They claimed that the allegations, along with supporting evidence, had been submitted to different levels of the party, but no action had been taken. They also alleged that a section of the Mandal leadership was involved in the matter.
BJP Mandal leadership denied the allegations, stating that no such complaint or evidence against Meena Biswas had been submitted to them. Regarding the allegations involving former Pradhan Mitali Malakar, the leadership said there were complaints against her from the panchayat and that action had been taken by the party based on those complaints.
