Rajganj, 30th May: BJP workers and supporters staged a protest outside the residence of a Trinamool Congress leader in Guabari area of Bandhunagar, Rajganj, on Saturday, alleging multiple charges of corruption.
The protest created tension in the area as BJP leaders raised slogans against alleged irregularities and land grabbing activities. The agitation was led by BJP Minority Morcha Jalpaiguri district Vice-President Motiur Rahman and Rajganj Panchayat Samiti member Azimul Haque, along with several party workers.
The BJP alleged that TMC leader Mustaqim Mohammad and several others have been involved in land grabbing, irregularities and corruption for a long time. The party also raised objections after the leader was reportedly seen at a BJP victory rally in Belakoba recently.
BJP leaders stated that no individual facing corruption allegations would be allowed into the party. Motiur Rahman said that some tainted TMC leaders are trying to switch political sides after the election results, adding that such individuals will not be accepted in the party.
Azimul Haque said that Mustaqim Mohammad is facing multiple allegations and questioned his presence at a BJP victory rally. He added that a written complaint will be filed at the Bhorer Alo police station regarding the matter and the allegations against him.
