Rajganj, 25th March: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Kisan Morcha staged a protest in front of the office of the Assistant Agriculture Officer at the Kisan Mandi in Belakoba, Rajganj, alleging the sale of adulterated fertilizer.
According to reports, farmers from different areas of Shikarpur Gram Panchayat in the Rajganj block recently complained that the fertilizer they applied to their land was completely adulterated. The fertilizer remained floating in water instead of mixing with the soil. Despite reporting the issue to agricultural officers, no action was allegedly taken by the administration, prompting the BJP’s Kisan Morcha to stage a protest on Tuesday.
In this regard, Kisan Morcha Jalpaiguri District President Nakul Das stated that many farmers in the area cultivate large quantities of paddy, but the fertilizer they purchased from the market was found to be adulterated. He further alleged that although agricultural officers had collected samples, no action had been taken so far.
He further cautioned that if immediate steps are not taken against the sale of adulterated fertilizer, a larger movement will be launched.
