Siliguri, 20th December: Pradhan Nagar police arrested the prime accused of a gold polishing fraud ring from Bihar. The arrested accused has been identified as Guddu Mandal (37), a resident of Katihar in Bihar. He was produced at Siliguri court today.
According to police sources, the accused Guddu Mandal and one of his associates used to visit different houses in Pradhan Nagar, Bhaktinagar area, and run away with jewellery on the pretext of polishing them. A woman became the victim of such an incident in Salbari on December 14. Following this, she lodged a written complaint at the police station.
After investigating the CCTV footage of the area based on the allegation, the police traced the whereabouts of the fraud ring in Bihar. The Pradhan Nagar police station reached Bihar and arrested the main accused. Police have started searching for his associate.
