Bhorer Alo police seize nearly 1 kg brown sugar ahead of elections, one arrested

Rajganj, 21st April: In a major success ahead of the elections, Bhorer Alo police seized nearly one kilogram of brown sugar and arrested one person during a late-night operation.


According to police sources, on Monday night a person was spotted moving suspiciously with a bag near the Karatoya bridge on Canal Road. Due to heightened surveillance in the run-up to the elections, his movements came under police observation. Acting on suspicion, police immediately detained him and searched the bag.



During the search, two packets of brown sugar were recovered, weighing around one kilogram in total. The accused has been identified as Sahidur Ali, a resident of Malda district.



During preliminary interrogation, he reportedly stated that the contraband was brought from Malda. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter and are probing whether others are involved in the network.
