Bhaktinagar Police arrest four for gambling in hotel room amid lockdown, over Rs 4 lakhs recovered

Siliguri, 05th June: A team of Bhaktinagar police, based on a tip-off, raided a room of Hotel Sagar Residency located at Sevoke Road, on Friday night.


During the search, the team caught four men red handed who were gambling with huge amount of board money, defying the COVID protocols. The arrested have been identified as, Birju Agarwal (53) – resident of Sevoke Road near LIC building, Pramod Kumar Agarwal (56) – resident of Jyotinagar, Dipak Agarwal (48) – resides near LIC building and Keshab Agarwal (44) of Punjabi Para.


Board money amounting to Rs 4,26,000, around four packets of playing cards and other items were recovered from the spot. A specific case under Gambling Act, Prize Competition Act and Disaster Management Act has been initiated. All the arrested accused will be presented in to court today.
