Siliguri, 02nd November: In view of the worsening COVID-19 situation and the increasing number of deaths in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation area and Matigara block, Ashok Bhattacharya sent a letter to State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to look into the matter.
In the letter, Bhattacharya mentioned that after Durga Puja, several ward coordinators of Siliguri have been infected with the novel coronavirus. Also, a patient lost his life even after testing negative for the virus.
He further mentioned that the absence of an adequate number of doctors, health workers, and oxygen supply adds to the concern. Hence, he asked the CM to look into the matter.
It is to be noted that according to the information given by the Darjeeling DM, 68 cases were reported in the SMC area on Saturday and 59 on Sunday.
