Alipurduar, 02nd October: On the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya, a ‘Sanskriti Yatra’ was organized by the Alipurduar Sanskritik Sanstha aboard the Bamanhat passenger train. The journey commenced at 6:20 AM from the Alipurduar Junction railway station.
For the past 16 years, the Alipurduar Sanskritik Sanstha has organized this cultural event to mark the end of the ‘Pitru Paksha’ and welcome the ‘Devi Paksha’. On this day, artists from the society welcomed the arrival of the goddess through performances of dance, music, poetry, and Birendra Krishna Bhadra’s well-known recitation of ‘Chandi’ at the railway station.
The journey commenced with traditional music, ‘dhak’ and ‘shankh.’ The celebrations continued with various cultural programs on the moving train. The event saw participation from children and a diverse spectrum of artists, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
