Kalimpong, 29th December: Tragedy befell following the death of 84-year-old Edith Mary Chappell on her visit to Kalimpong.
As per reports, Edith was from Muchipara located in Durgapur of Bidhannagar, Kolkata. The elderly woman had arrived in Kalimpong on a trip when her health abruptly began to deteriorate. According to Kalimpong Superintendent of Police Aparajita Rai, the elderly came to the hills for a walk and fell ill.
Following this, she was immediately rushed to the Kalimpong District Hospital, where medical professionals declared her dead. Medical reports indicate that the cause of her sudden death was a heart attack. The deceased body underwent a post-mortem examination at the Kalimpong District Hospital.
