The Police averted a major attack before the Republic Day as they busted a module of Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed and arrested five of its operatives, in Srinagar, on Thursday.
In the major bust, the Srinagar Police recovered a huge cache of explosives from their possession.
Jaish-e-Mohammed has been behind several terrorist attacks in the country, the most devastating of them being the 2019 Pulwama attack, which claimed the lives of 40 Central Reserve Police Force personnel in Jammu and Kashmir.
The arrested terrorists have been identified as Aijaz Ahmed Sheikh, Umar Hameed Sheikh, Imtiyaz Ahmed Chikla, Sahil Farooq Gojri and Naseer Ahmed Mir.
