A young man got severely injured after he fell into a high drain that is situated in Netajipara of Ward-14, Dhupguri. The injured has been identified as Rahul Haldar, an employee at a grocery store.
On Wednesday afternoon, Haldar was carrying some goods for the store when he slipped and fell into the high drain. He was rescued by the locals, who also rushed him to the Dhupguri Hospital.
The local residents shared that the culvert has not been constructed since a long time. Even after complaining to the Municipality repeatedly, no action was taken by the administration.
The owner of the grocery store, Samir Ghosh, said that he had gone to notify Rajesh Kumar Singh, the Ward Councillor and the Vice Chairman of the Municipality, right after the incident took place.
Acting immediately on the issue, the Vice-Chairman instructed an engineer to make all necessary arrangements to cover the drain.
