The state government has issued prohibitory orders on the removal of sand and stone from the rivers of West Bengal during the rainy season. Due to this direction, many workers have become jobless. For this reason, the workers who were engaged in the work of lifting sand and stones feom Siliguri rivers protested by surrounding the SDO office with a demand to remove the injunction.

Today under the banner of Social Justice Forum, the workers demonstrated the movement. For some time the National Highway was also blocked. Later after the intervention of the police, the protest was ended. On the other hand, due to the absence of the SDO, the agitated workers submitted a memorandum to the magistrate.
