Darjeeling, 01st December: A huge rally was organized today by the United Gorkha Community Forum in Darjeeling, with regard to the three-point demand, which includes providing tribal status to the remaining 11 communities of the Gorkha community, allotting reservation for people belonging to the SC-ST class in the GTA area and awarding Bharat Ratna award to Tenzing Sherpa, who was one of the first two individuals known to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
The rally circled the town made sure all of their demands were loud and clear for the administrative officials. The rally was attended by a large number of people from different communities of the Gorkha community from the Terai-Dooars area, including Darjeeling, Kalimpong district.
According to Ashok Lama, Vice President of the Forum, the three main issues were the prime purpose of the rally organized by the United Gorkha Community Forum today. He said that these three issues play a significant role in the lives of the people, hence the people from Gorkha and other communities jointly participated in it.
