Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, has instructed the Union Home Secretary to hold a meeting for discussing the hills’ unrest within the next 15 days.
Amid this, the Union Home Minister also made an appeal to Gorkha Janmukti Morcha’s supremo, Bimal Gurung, about withdrawing the indefinite strike that has been effective in the region and said that life and activity must resume now; especially since it is a time of festivities.
As per sources, Minister Rajnath Singh said that the people of the hills had to struggle a lot during the shutdown period which killed 11 and injured many.
“In a democracy, dialogue is the only way to resolve a problem. That is why I have asked the Union Home Secretary to arrange a meeting on an official level within the next fifteen days. I have also appealed to the GJM to withdraw the strike which has been going on since the last 104 days,” Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said.
