Chaos broke out at the office premises of the Block Development Officer in Chopra, North Dinajpur today after a clash took place there between two groups of the Trinamool Congress.
The incident injured two people, who are now admitted at the Dalua Health Centre. Two other people have been taken in custody by the Chopra Police for being involved in the clash.
According to local sources, a contractor named Ayinul Haq was sitting in the BDO office when a few people reached there and started assaulting him. The Trinamool Congress strongly believes that the conflict did not involve the party.
Moreover, the TMC has stated that Ayinul Haq is a BJP activist who threatened to kill Panchayat Commitee's Executive President, Jahidul, on gun-point last evening.
The TMC also mentioned how an FIR has been lodged against Ayinul Haq. Haq, however, maintains that he is a TMC activist and that he is being wrongly accused.
"The Executive President of the Panchayat Committee had asked me for a bribe. I was attacked because I refused to pay it," is what Ayinul Haq has stated.
