Two arrested with banned cough syrup and intoxicating tablets in Siliguri

Siliguri, 16th February: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police and Bhaktinagar Police Station launched a joint operation on Sevoke Road and arrested two individuals with intoxicating tablets and banned cough syrup. The arrested accused have been identified as Ronnie Ghosh and Santosh Mahato, both residents of Ward No. 40 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).


Sources revealed that both Ronnie and Santosh were engaged in similar business for several months and were involved in delivering drugs on a scooter to several locations in the city.

Significantly, on Thursday night, the SOG in collaboration with the Bhakti Nagar police station apprehended both the accused during their pursuit to deliver drugs on Siliguri’s Sevoke Road. Upon initiating a search, a huge quantity of intoxicating tablets and banned cough syrup were recovered.


Subsequently, both the accused were arrested after registering a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. On Friday, the Bhakti Nagar police station presented both the accused before the Jalpaiguri court.
