Trishakti Corps celebrated Army Day at Sukna

Siliguri, 15th January: The Trishakti Corps of Indian Army celebrated Army Day at Sukna on Friday. 


On the occasion, Lieutenant General Ajai Kumar YSM, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding Trishakti Corps on behalf of all ranks paid homage to the martyred brave hearts.

It is to recall, on the 15th January in 1949, Lieutenant General KM Cariappa took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander. Thus, this day is celebrated to recognise this proud moment, when an Indian had assumed command of the Indian Army.


Several army officials and Jawans at Sukna participated in the event and paid homage to the martyrs who had laid down their lives to protect the nation.

Meanwhile in Sikkim, the Black Cat Division also conducted a Military Band Display at MG Road, Gangtok. Citizens in large numbers witnessed the event.
