Siliguri Municipal Corporations’ Opposition leader, Ranjan Sarkar, visited and reviewed the wards of Siliguri today that have been affected by water-logging. A delegation of the Trinamool Congress accompanied him, which included Councillors Pradeep Goyal, Durga Singh and Sanjay Pathak.
During their visit to Ward 5, these leaders also removed an electrical pole that was still functioning and was lying on the Chhath Ghat Road 2.
Ranjan Sarkar blamed the Municipal Corporation of neglect and even said that they are “sleeping” while the people suffer.
“We inquired about the situation when our Councillors called and told us about the condition here,” Ranjan Sarkar said.
The special delegation of the TMC also went to Ward 40 and Ward 46 to take stock of the situation there. They also paid a visit to Champasari, Utpal Nagar and Dhaknikata.
“The Mayor had said that his team is taking care of the situation here. Where is that team sleeping while the people face the difficulties?,” stated the delegation while accusing the Municipal Corporation of neglect.
“The condition of the Gaushala building in Ward 5 is deteriorating by the minute. It can crumble down any moment now. We had warned the administration about the building three years back, but its condition has only turned worse ever since,” said Ranjan Sarkar.
