The 300 members of Trinamool Congress’ e-rickshaw union switched their party to join Bharatiya Janata Party in Coochbehar.
Coochbehar District BJP’s President, Nikhil Ranjan Dey, shared that a protest will be held by the e-rickshaw drivers in front of the RTO office and a memorandum will also be submitted on Monday in support of various demands.
Nikhil Ranjan Dey alleged that the state government has been doing injustice to the e-rickshaw drivers. The district administration had conducted a meeting a few days back and had declared that no licence will be issued to the owners of old vehicles.
Nikhil Ranjan Dey also alleged that it had been announced that the owners of old vehicles will have to purchase the vehicle from the authorized sellers or they will have to pay Rs. 10,000 for the licence.
The protest will be held to raise their voice against the issue and the protestors will take the matter to the High Court, if the problem will not be resolved.
