Three Bhutanese arrested with Himalayan Viagra Yarsagumba worth one crore rupees

Kalchini, 20th August: Based on a tip-off, on Monday evening, 53rd SSB Corps personnel and Hamilton Ganj Range Forest Department conducted a joint operation and arrested three Bhutanese along with 5kg of Himalayan Viagra Yasragumba from the area around Jaigaon, situated alongside the Indo-Bhutan Border, under Kalchini block, Alipurduar.  The arrested has been identified as Chhotan Namgel, Doraji Kiryang and Kesabu Dauraji, resident of Bhutan.


The Himalayan Viagra Yasragumba is used for treating dangerous diseases such as cancer, and hepatitis. Therefore, the market value of the seized item, found only in the Himalayan mountains of  Nepal and India, is often estimated to be worth more than crores and is three times more valuable than gold.

In this regard, SSB 53 Corps Commandant Arvind Kumar said that based on a tip-off, the operation was carried out on Monday night by the team of SSB 53 Corps and the Hemiltonganj Range Forest Department alongside the smuggling route to Bhutan leading to Thimpu, successfully seized 5kg of  Himalayan Viagra Yasragumba.


Later, the arrested were handed over to the Hamiltonganj range forest department. The three arrested Bhutanese were presented before the Alipurduar District Court on Tuesday.
