Three people were arrested by the Central Revenue Intelligence Department for illegally possessing three kilos of gold bars from the Tenzing Norgay Bus Stand of Siliguri.
The names of the arrested men have been stated as Sachin Patil, Krishna Shankar and Uttam Dilip Bhujale. The trio hails from Maharashtra.
Reports state that the gold biscuits that were found in the men’s possession are from Switzerland and their estimated market value is Rs. 93 lakhs.
The three accused were presented in front of the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court today, were they were granted 14 days of interim bail. They will be produced in front the court again after 14 days.
It has been reported that the gold had been brought to Siliguri from China through Bhutan and was being taken to Maharashtra. On receiving the news, the Intelligence Department ran an operation and arrested the accused on Tuesday.
