The Teesta Rangit Festival commenced in Darjeeling today after the Chairman of the GTA, Binay Tamang, inaugurated it. Along with Darjeeling, the festival will commence in Kalimpong, Kurseong and Mirik as well.
As per sources, the Teesta Rangit Festival in Darjeeling will continue for a period for three days. In Kalimpong, the event will be held for two days on December 29 and 30.
The Teesta Rangit Festival in Mirik will start from December 30 and will conclude on December 31. In Kurseong, the event will begin from tomorrow and will continue till December 30.
Hordes of tourists have been witnessed to be heading up to the hills for the event. Moreover, the land-rover rally that has been planned to walk in Darjeeling tomorrow from Manabhanjan till the town will also be a major attraction for travelers and locals alike.
The Teesta Rangit Festival was also held last year, but the event was named as the 'Darjeeling Tourist Festival' by the Chief of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, Bimal Gurung. The event was named the 'Darjeeling Carnival' during the period of the Gorkha National Liberation Front.
