St.Joseph's College student wins Inter-College Debate Competition

Darjeeling, 22nd September: Ankita Pradhan, a young poet, and social activist, representing St. Joseph's College of Darjeeling, scored the first place in the Inter-College Debate Competition held among the nine colleges. Ankita Pradhan, hailing from Mirik is a first-year student of St.Joseph's College Darjeeling and pursuing honors in Political Science. Meanwhile, Samuel Subba, a student of the same College, attained the second place in the competition while Jaya Rai, a student of Jorebunglow College, won the Best Speaker.

The Inter-College Debate Competition organized in the auditorium of St Joseph's College on Saturday was actively participated by Government College, St Joseph's College, Southfield College, Ghoom Jorbunglow College, Kurseong College, Mirik College, Kalimpong Cluney College, Bijanbari Degree College, and Salesian College Sonada took part during the competition. The topic for debate 'Communication Technologies and their Impact.
The young orators were judged by the team of Jury members comprising of Prof. Srijana Rai of Kurseong College, Prakash Rai of Darjeeling Govt College, Prof. Safal Rai of Mirik College, Prof. Usnam Chhetri of Ghoom Jorebunglow College, Prof. Subash Chhetri of Kalimpong Cluny College, Prashant Rai of Salesian College and Prof. Sujan Subba of Bijabari College.
