Solar lights set to ease the attacks of elephants in the middle of the night

Stories are often heard about the terror the elephants create in the middle of the night in most of the tea gardens, forest areas and residential areas of Duars. Continuous efforts are being made by the Forest Department to decrease the number of these incidents.

In order to prevent the elephants from entering the residential areas from the forest, a total of four solar lights have been installed in the Subhashini Tea Plantation and Central Satali Vanbasti area under the Kalchini block of Alipurduar district, on behalf of the Kodalbasti Range of the Forest Department.

Kodalbasti Ranger, Dhiraj Kami said that our aim is to protect the forests, wildlife as well as forest dwellers. He said that similar solar lights will be installed in some more areas.
